New York, USA · JFK
John F. Kennedy International Airport
JFK is a large airport with several terminals, and it is going through a long redevelopment. Terminal assignments and building names change over time, so take the terminal from your boarding pass and the official site.

01Find your terminal first
Terminals are assigned by airline. Because of the redevelopment, do not rely on where you flew from last time.
Use the official airport site or your airline app to confirm terminal and date before you leave.
02AirTrain: around the airport and to the city
AirTrain JFK is the elevated train that links the terminals, parking and the rental car area. Travel inside the airport loop is free.
To reach the city, the AirTrain connects to Jamaica Station (Long Island Rail Road and subway) and to Howard Beach (subway). Leaving the airport through those stations is a paid journey; check the current fares with the operators.
03Taxis, rides and buses
Use the official taxi line outside baggage claim and the designated pickup area for app-based rides. Tolls and extras can be added to the base fare, so confirm the price before you travel.
Roads can be slow. Allow a buffer on departure days.
04Arrivals and connections
Arriving international passengers go through immigration and customs before reaching the public hall. Allow time for queues.
If you change terminals, the AirTrain is the usual landside link. Check whether you need to pass security again.
05Before you fly
Check baggage rules with your airline and locate your check-in hall and security checkpoint.
Look for lounges, food and rest areas on the official site, and note which side of security they are on.
